God has designed us to live a life of purpose and fulfillment. We need balance in our life and God has told us how we can have fulfillment through living out the purposes of God in our lives.
Worship:
The church exists to: Love the Lord with all your heart
The church exists to worship God. Jesus said: ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’” (Matthew 4:10). How do we love God with all our hearts? By worshiping him! When we express our love to God we are worshiping him. What could be more natural than thanking God for the good things he gives us every day?
Throughout the bible we are commanded to celebrate God’s presence by magnifying the Lord and exalting his name. Psalm 34:3 says: O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. We shouldn’t worship out of duty; we worship because we want to enjoy expressing our love to God.
Ministry
The church exists to: Love your neighbor as yourself.
Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-39 ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
The church exists to minister to people. Ministry is demonstrating God’s love to others by meeting their needs and healing their hurts in the name of Jesus. The church is called to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12) so that a hurting world can know the love of God
Evangelism
The church exists to: Communicate God’s message to the world.
The world knows of God, but they don’t know of his great love for them and the forgiveness they can know in Jesus. We are ambassadors for Christ and it’s our great privilege to tell others about the life we have found in Jesus. It’s the mission of the church to grow and to bring people into an eternal relationship with God’s family.
Fellowship:
The church exists to: Live and grow in relationship with one another
We are not meant to live lone-ranger lives; instead we are called to be in a church family. We can only reach our full potential as followers of Jesus Christ as we learn to love one another and use the gifts God has given us to build each other up.
We are not alone; we have each other for support. Ephesians 2:19 says: “You are members of God’s very own family…and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.” The Church exists as a family that loves and supports one another.
Discipleship:
The church exists to: educate God’s people.
Discipleship is the process of helping people become more like Christ in their thoughts, feelings and actions. This process begins when a person is born again and continues throughout the rest of his life.
