Hypocrisy: (n. pl.) The act of persistently pretending to hold beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually hold. Hypocrisy is thus a kind of lie. Hypocrisy may come from a desire to hide from others actual motives or feelings. (Wiki)Hypocrite

We all know hypocrites. Just the word brings up images of self-righteous right wringers standing on the corner with a bull horn. They just don’t get it…

But what about you and I? Sometimes it’s easy to hide behind a mask and act like someone that we aren’t. We do it for all kinds of reason, but mostly because we want others to think the best of us. And while the mask might work at the office, it doesn’t really work for the rest of life.

We all need to figure out how to be real and keep from falling into the trap of hypocrisy. Here are a few keys that will bring you real freedom in life:

  • Find someone you can be honest with. Being open can help you accept your faults and even make changes.
  • When you’re tempted to judge someone, instead love them. You may not know what they are going through and God can use you to ease their pain.
  • Cultivate an honest estimation of yourself. God gives us direction for our lives, not to restrict us, but to free us to live a life of fulfillment and happiness.
  • Keep growing and keep changing for the better. God wants the outer life we show others to reflect an inner life that reflects the qualities of Jesus.
  • If you want to impress others just love them. People aren’t impressed by our masks, but they are impressed by our love.

Join us at Re-imagine Life Church as we dig into the issue of Hypocrisy and re-imagine how to live life to the fullest.
